Registration is officially open for the Friends Fourth Annual Golf Tournament! CLICK HERE for all the tournament details, including for information on how to register as a golfer. Speaking of the Friends, their next meeting is August 6th at 4:30 in the Reading Room, and all are welcome to attend. On August 29th, Rick Keller from Perfect Pastime 617 will be at the Library offering free appraisals for anybody who wants to bring in their collectables. Marty Gitlin, sportswriter and author of The Ultimate Red Sox Time Machine Book, will be at the Library on August 13th to help us relive all the iconic moments of the team's rich and storied past, up to and including the run of 21st century championships. Local author and ADHD advocate Rosalyn Price English visits the Library on August 13th and 20th to lead two hands-on workshops designed to help students with ADHD take charge of their learning and build real-world success skills. For those looking for a creative outlet, Laura the Librarian will be leading a vision board workshop on August 6th for those looking to organize their goals. Miss Deborah will be at the Library on August 6th to guide everybody on how to make a beaded bracelet or anklet, and Miss Jenn will return on August 20th to lead another felting craft. We will also be hosting another evening yoga session at Old Town Hall on August 27th. If the weather is nice, yoga will be held outside. Children's programs include movie matinees on Mondays and Fridays, and Wednesday afternoon activities consisting of kitty crafts with local author Carla Marrero, polymer clay day, and an escape room. Join Marty Gitlin, award-winning sportswriter and author of The Ultimate Red Sox Time Machine Book, on Thursday August 13th at 6:00 in the Program Room for a presentation that will entertain Red Sox fans of all ages. Marty will cover the most interesting and greatest teams, players, and events in Red Sox history from the Royal Rooters to Ted Williams and the 1946 pennant, to Yaz and the Impossible Dream, to the disappointments of 1975 and 1986, all the way up to Big Papi and the recent run of World Series titles. This program is free to attend and no registration is required. |

Harnessing Your Superpower

Local author and ADHD advocate Rosalyn Price English visits the Library to lead two hands-on workshops designed to help students take charge of their learning and build real-world success skills. Children will discover how their brains work and learn simple strategies to overcome procrastination and avoidance. Session One is on Thursday August 13th at 12:30 and focuses on understanding what the brain needs to function at its best. Session Two is on Thursday August 20th at 12:30 and turns that knowledge into real-world strategies for school and everyday life. While designed for middle school students, these sessions are also valuable for parents, caregivers, and adults with ADHD, so all are welcome. Both sessions are free to attend, but registration is required. |

Join the Nonfiction Book Club and read about a different subject each month. This month, the book club will explore consciousness and the human brain by reading The Consciousness Instinct by Michael S. Gazzaniga for discussion on Saturday August 22nd at 12:00 in the Reading Room. Copies of the book are available at the Library. The Nonfiction Book Club meets regularly on the fourth Saturday of each month, and anybody interested is welcome. |

Join the Traveling Book Club and travel around the world through books! This month, the book club will travel to the Dust Bowl and experience the Great Depression through the eyes of a young man who drives two giraffes across the country to San Diego by reading West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge for discussion on Thursday August 27th at 6:00 in the Reading Room. Copies of the book are available at the Library. The Traveling Book Club meets on the last Thursday of each month. |

The first Thursday of each month is Needlework Night. Bring all your knitting, crochet, and needlework projects on Thursday August 6th at 6:00 and be among fellow needlepoint enthusiasts to trade tips and work together. There will be needlepoint teachers on hand to help instruct those looking to learn new skills. Needlework night is free to attend. All levels of experience are welcome, and no registration is required. |

Bring a pair of binoculars, wear some comfortable shoes, and join Miss Lorie for a Bird Walk every Monday morning at 7:30. Each Monday will explore a different place. There will be extra binoculars and a birding scope for everybody to use along with Sibley's bird books for reference. Children are invited to sign up for the Read to Bead program. They will get a chain with a tag of their choice plus they can pick out a colored bead for every 15 minutes they spend reading. For every five hours, children will earn a scratch ticket to win special prize. Every scratch ticket is a winner, so there are plenty of cool prizes available for everybody! Summer Reading will run up until Labor Day. |
