Summer is just around the corner, and with that comes another full slate of summer programs. We are offering a Paint Night at Old Town Hall on Thursday June 27th at 6:30 where aspiring artists can learn step by step how to paint a summer sunset ocean scene. Registration is required, so please call the Library at (508) 669-6421 to reserve a seat. We continue to offer our normally scheduled weekly children's programs in our Children's Section, but will also be offering Monday afternoon activities all throughout summer vacation. Check out calendar for details. Speaking of summer vacation, Summer Reading begins on June 22nd, so ask Miss Lorie about our Read to Bead program or call the Library at (508) 669-6421 for more details. We are also excited to announce the addition of Comics Plus to our digital resources. Comics Plus provides unlimited access to thousands of digital comics, graphic novels, manga, and picture books from a variety of library-friendly publishers. Have you ever heard of Libby? It is a free app that will allow you to read ebooks and listen to audiobooks. All you need is a Dighton library card to get started. In addition to the SAILS network, Libby will grant you access to other Massachusetts networks, including CLAMS, Boston Public Library, Minutemen Library Network, Old Colony Network, CW Mars, NOBLE, and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium. Join the Traveling Book Group and travel around the world through books. This month, the book club will travel to New York by reading Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng on Wednesday June 26th in the Children's Section located in the Lower Level of the Town Hall at 6:00. Copies of books are available at the library for anybody looking to take part in the group. The Traveling Book Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month, and anybody interested is welcome to attend.

Save the date for the evening of Saturday August 3rd for a Movie Under the Stars showing on the field behind Town Hall. Sponsored by the Dighton Public Library with help from the Friends of the Dighton Public Library, the program is free to attend and no registration is required. Tot Time Join Ms. Lorie Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 in June for songs, stories, and finger-plays for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years.

Play Group Preschoolers are invited to Play Group every Wednesday at 10:30 in June. There will be plenty of STEM toys so kids can learn while they play.

Summer Reading Begins June 22nd! Children are invited to sign up for the Read to Bead program. They will get a chain with a tag of their choice plus they can pick out a colored bead for every 15 minutes they spend reading. Teens can pick out a candy bar when they sign up for summer reading and get another candy bar for every 6 hours spent reading.

Monday Afternoon Programs Stop by the Children's Section every Monday afternoon and enjoy a different activity. Each Monday throughout the summer beginning in July will feature a different activity, so check our calendar and be sure not to miss any of the events, including Tie Dye Teddy Bears, Spray Dye T-shirts, Wandmaking and more.

Stories in the Park Join Miss Lorie for Stories in the Park every Wednesday at noon beginning on July 10th. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch and listen to stories while they eat.

Color of the Week Wear the color of the week to the Library during the summer and pick out a lollipop. Visit the Children's Section or call the Library at (508) 669-4421 for more information.

Adults and children are invited to submit a photo to our photo contest. The subject is Dighton, and any photograph taken in Dighton is eligible to be entered. Please no people or pets in the photograph. E-mail your photo to Ms. Lorie in the Children's Section in the Lower Level of the Town Hall to enter. The pictures will be laminated and then hung in our entry hallway. Each photo will be given a number so that everyone can vote for their favorite Dighton photograph.

Rules: - Include the name and contact information of the person entering the photo, age of the photographer, and the location where the photo was taken.
- E-mail the picture so it can be printed as an 8x10.
- Voting will end July 1st.
- You can vote every time you visit the Children's Section.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning Child's photo and Adult's photo!

Summer Meeting The next meeting of the Friends of the Dighton Public Library will be on Thursday July 18th at 6:30 in the Library's Children's Section located in the lower level of Dighton Town Hall. All are welcome, and we always welcome new friends. All you really need to do is love the library and join us for a few meetings a year to help brainstorm and plan great events!
