People Making History: Henry Stimson and His WWII Occupation Policy

Dr. Lou DiMarco delves into Secretary of War Stimson's plans for control of the U.S. occupation zone after the war. His plan eventually led to the Nuremberg Trials. 
Lem Sheppard: African American Songs from Kansas History
Sunday, Feb. 16 | 2-3 p.m. | Jahn Room
The musical activities of African Americans from about 1860 to 1920 are part of an untold story in Kansas history. They were active in many musical groups as itinerant musicians and jubilee singers. Musician Lem Sheppard presents a program of this music taken from the pages of Kansas history. 
Tom Pendergast: Boss of Kansas City's Corrupt Machine
Thursday, Feb. 27 | 7-8 p.m. | Jahn Room
Between the 1926 and 1939, political machine boss Thomas J. Pendergast exerted tremendous influence over almost every facet of political, business and cultural life in Kansas City. Historical re-enactor Bill Nicks gives a first-hand account of how Pendergast skirted the law to control the city, as well as his involvement in getting Harry S. Truman elected as President.
