Story time is an introduction to the magic of books and reading. Have fun at the Independence Public Library with rhymes, stories, and movements while developing early literacy skills.

Tea Time at the Library
Sunday, February 23, 2:00-4:00 pm
 
Join us for a delightful Tea Party at the library, where guests of all ages can stop in between 2:00 and 4:00 pm to enjoy a variety of fun activities, sip on delicious tea, and indulge in tasty refreshments. Come dressed in your finest attire, if you desire! Feel free to bring a favorite tea set or special teacup. Guests, including stuffies, are welcome! No registration required. This is a One Book Indee event.
Legos @ the Library
Tuesday, February 25, 6:00-7:00 pm
 
Join us in the Community Room for some family Lego fun! We will have a challenge available, or kids and adults can make their own creations that will be displayed in the library! No registration needed. 
MHI Carriage Rides
Saturday, March 1, 12:00-3:00 pm
 
As part of the Independence Public Library’s One Book Indee community read project, join us for free tours of the MHI grounds provided by Clip Clop Wagon Rides and Carriage Service. No registration is required and tours will be given on a first-come, first-served basis from 12:00-3:00 pm.

Sign up to get a free tree for Earth Day!
January 24 – March 15
 
The Independence Public Library is partnering with Neighborhood Forest to give a free tree to children this Earth Day! Parents/guardians, please sign your child up to receive a free tree by filling out this short form: https://www.neighborhoodforest.org/parent-registration/?school=97954. Sign ups are open now through March 15, and trees will arrive the week of Earth Day (April 22). We’ll contact you when your tree is ready for pick-up at the library! Flurry of Winter Reading Starts!
February 1 - March 31
 
Adults, teens, and kids can take part in IPL’s Flurry of Winter Reading challenge at the library and track reading progress for a chance to win exciting prize baskets! Complete bingo challenges by reading books from various categories and completing activities to earn entries into the prize drawing. Pick up your Bingo card at the library or register for the challenge online through Beanstack! Program runs February 1 – March 31. It’s a fun way to stay cozy, read, and win this winter!
