Tacoma Public Library offers eBook club picks for Kids and Teens. Selected by TPL’s Youth Services staff, these eBook titles are always available to checkout through Overdrive/Libby, with no holds and no waiting!

Whole Class Participation
Some library programs are great opportunities for whole classes or schools to participate. Pasado's Pen Pals or the Library Card Design Contest are great examples! If you see something you'd like your class to participate in, contact us to see if it is something we can accommodate.
Free Tutoring
(Grades 3-12) Live Homework Help, Skills Building, and Writing Workshops. Live tutors are available every day from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Tacoma Reads
Tacoma Reads is a city-wide reading program that seeks to unite the community in dialogue around contemporary themes through reading a common text.
Tacoma Reads 2021 will focus on the themes of race, social justice, and healing through three books, one for each reading level.

Library Card Design Contest
Show us what Tacoma Public Library means to you or your community through your library card design! Open to all Tacoma Public Library cardholders, winners will see their card design created for the entire system! The contest runs from September 1-30 and 1 winner will be awarded in each age group: youth ages 10 and under, teens 11-17, and adults 18+. Submissions may be in any art medium and paper and digital entries are accepted. Stop by any branch for a paper form or download a digital form.
Pasado's Pen Pals
Pick an animal from the pen pal list and write them a letter!
Pickup (or download) a form to get started. You can view the mailing schedule here.
Pasado's Safe Haven Virtual Tour
Join us for a virtual tour of Pasado’s Safe Haven, an animal sanctuary located in Monroe, Washington. This will be a three part tour series throughout Fall 2021.
Poetry In The Park
Visit select parks and enjoy the poems located on the trails throughout the park. The poetry signs will be up from August 15th through October 15th, 2021.
Thea Foss Photo Scavenger Hunt   
You’ll work together in small groups to complete a photography scavenger hunt.
Hispanic Heritage Month Art Tales
Join us as we explore the art of Joan Miró and his painting On the Farm.

Helping Honey Bees with The Pierce County Beekeepers Association

September is National Honey Month. Celebrate by joining Tacoma Library on the Wheelock Branch's front lawn for an informative presentation and question & answer session about honey bee populations with a representative of the Pierce County Beekeepers Association (PCBA).

Radical Readers Book Club

Join a totally different book club for kids! Each month we will read and discuss books from different categories. You get to pick any book you want, as long as it fits the category. For independent readers under age 13.

Sept. 8 and Sept. 22 
Join your friends at our official Pokemon League. Both experienced players and beginners are welcome. The event facilitator is an expert player who has helped judge world championships!
