The annual Seed Library is now open on the 2nd floor near the elevator. Thank you to the Gallatin Gardener's Club for their generous grant that makes this possible!
Architecture Adventure
The April Big Kid STEAM Play program is Architecture Adventure! Become an architect for the day. Presented in partnership with the MSU School of Architecture. Available in the Children's Room during all library open hours.
Big Kid STEAM Play is designed to intrigue and challenge kids ages 5-11. These special rotating programs offer elementary schoolers the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics through play. These programs may include tools and materials not suited for younger children.
Start by listing what you know about your family history.
Interview relatives if possible to see what stories have already been collected.
Get death records. A death record will provide many clues about the individual: the names of parents, spouse, residence and where they were buried, their occupation, religion, and even cause of death.
Follow the clues. Ancestry lets you search census records, vital records, military records, and immigration records.
Keep digging! After verifying dates and locations, use local records like newspapers to discover even richer details.
Give Big for Bozeman's Kids| April 30-May 1
For 20 years, the Library’s Children’s Room has been a place of wonder, always free and open to all. This Give Big Gallatin Valley, our community’s annual day of giving, you can help transform this beloved space. Your gift will create engaging spaces for every age, improve safety and accessibility, add cozy corners for quiet time, and spark hands-on learning. This renovation goes beyond updates. It’s an investment in curiosity, connection, and lifelong learning for every child in our community. This Give Big, we hope we can count on your support!
America's News
Good news! You can explore Montana history and current events through local news, events and people with these newspaper collections from America’s News. Access full-color newspaper pages, full-text articles and content only published online.
The Library couldn't be what it is without volunteers! Volunteers serve in every department, shelving books, assisting programs, delivering items to homebound patrons, and so much more. Library volunteers contribute hundreds of hours every month, making the Library the best it can be. We are grateful for National Volunteer Month, where we can celebrate each wonderful volunteer!
McLeod Reading Room
A very special collection indeed. For Bozeman history researchers, this reference-only collection houses books, microfilm, and pamphlets of historical importance. The most frequently used items are the Polk Directories containing business and housing information going back to 1892! Ask at the second floor Info Desk for assistance with viewing these items.
On May 5, Bozeman residents will vote to fill two vacant seats on the Bozeman School Board. These two seats on the Bozeman School Board are open for three-year terms. This public forum, moderated by the Bozeman League of Women Voters and sponsored by the League of Women Voters, and the Bozeman Public Library, provides an opportunity to learn about the candidates’ positions and backgrounds. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early and bring questions for the candidates.
World Languages
We’re excited to share that Bozeman Public Library now offers VOX Books in world languages for children in grades K–4. ¡Ya tenemos libros VOX en español y en otros idiomas para que los niños escuchen cuentos y sigan la lectura a su propio ritmo!
These hardcover books feature built-in audio players that let children hear the story aloud as they follow along- no Wi-Fi required. Our collection includes bilingual and world language titles in Spanish, French, German, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Ukrainian, helping children build literacy, pronunciation, comprehension, and confidence while connecting with language and culture. While these books are especially valuable for supporting children in their native languages, they are also a great resource for people of any age who want to hear and practice a new language. Easy to use and designed for independent reading, VOX Books are a fun and accessible way to explore stories and language together. Available in the Children's Room.
Visit the Bozeman Library Friends and Foundation Used Book Store! The Used Book Store is open daily during library hours and is located under the east stairway on the first floor. The Book Store is stocked weekly by volunteers and is comprised of donated books in great used condition. Use the convenient self-checkout when you are finished browsing.
