Hi Readers,
The public libraries of Sioux County are pleased to announce that they have received a $10,000 grant from the Siouxland Community Foundation to expand their shared digital lending consortium. This funding builds on a successful earlier grant from the Foundation that helped us to establish the countywide digital platform.
Your Sioux County libraries work collaboratively to provide programs and services that maximize our resources, reduce duplication, and broaden access for residents across the county. By working together, we are able to offer services that no single library could provide.
The new grant funding will allow the consortium to purchase more digital books and audiobooks than ever before, so that Sioux County residents can enjoy reading and listening to books anytime, anywhere. This helps us meet patrons where they are, whether at work, home, or on the go.
Member libraries also contribute to this consortium exclusive to Sioux County users. This further strengthens our shared collections and ensures continued growth over time. The Sioux County libraries are grateful to the Siouxland Community Foundation for its continued support and investment in innovative library services.

Pairing Book Formats for Reading Success | |

Several parents have inquired about ways to help their children who are struggling with reading. One strategy that educators and literacy experts often recommend is pairing an audiobook with a physical book.
Listening to an audiobook while following along in print can help build confidence, improve fluency, strengthen vocabulary, and increase comprehension. Hearing words pronounced correctly while seeing them on the page allows readers to focus less on decoding and more on understanding and enjoying the story. This approach can be especially helpful for struggling readers, reluctant readers, or children tackling longer books. It can also make reading a more positive experience by reducing frustration while still encouraging growth and skill development.

"Life: A Love Story" by Elizabeth Berg is a tender-hearted, sometimes humorous story about 92-year-old Florence Greene. Flo has learned she has only weeks left to live. Her husband has already passed away, and she has no children. She decides to leave her house and belongings to Ruthie, the woman who grew up next door and was both like a child and a close friend.
The book goes back and forth between being an account of her current life activities, including encouraging a woman in her 50s to seek out love, and a letter she is writing to leave behind for Ruthie. In this letter, she recounts the stories behind the
