FEATURED THIS MONTH:
Our new Education and Literacy Librarian
We’re excited to introduce our new Education and Literacy Librarian, Victoria Brander! Many of you may already recognize her—she’s been part of our library team since this past summer, working in circulation services. Now, she’s stepping into this new role, and we couldn’t be happier to have her.
Here’s a little more about Victoria in her own words:
"I grew up in West Michigan and attended Dordt University, where I earned my degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement. I spent four years teaching in different places, but my favorite subjects were always reading and language arts.
As a child, I loved Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson and Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. In middle school, I read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins for the first time, and it remains one of my favorite book series to this day.
Beyond reading, I enjoy macramé, board games, and playing video games on my Switch. I’m excited to serve this community and look forward to working with all of you!"
Please join us in welcoming Victoria to her new role! |

BOOK TALK:
Book to Screen Adaptations
There’s nothing quite like seeing a beloved book come to life on screen. Sometimes, the adaptation is so good it sends you running to read (or reread) the book, while other times, it’s the book that makes you desperate to see how it plays out on screen. This past year brought us some incredible book-to-screen adaptations, and if you haven’t watched or read them yet—consider this your sign to do both.
