Punxsutawney Phil has reportedly seen his shadow, which means winter is going to be wintering for a bit longer. Yet another reason that you should sign up for Mini-Golf at the Library: those golf greens are MONTHS away. You won't be able to hit the links for many weeks yet, but how about hitting the low-pile carpet of YPL?⛳
Online registration for CLUBHOUSE NIGHT closes on Thursday at 9:00 PM! Walk-ins are welcome at both Clubhouse Night and Family Fun Day. (Please note reservations are requried for Sensory Friendly Time from 2-4 PM on Saturday, February 7.)
This month, we have a lovely Valentine's Day concert, an examination of George Washington's hair, and the launch of our this year's Climate Series, Tides of Change: Our Coast, Our Future. The Gulf of Maine is warming faster than 95% of the world’s oceans, and the series will take a closer look.
In Teen and Young Adult happenings, we're kicking off our first ever Prom Closet (because prom should be magical, not expensive!); our Digital Learning Lab students are working hard on their robots; Danie is creating a giant Candyland game; and our Teen Advisory Board will reconvene.
Join us!
-YPL
P.S. Don't forget that the Children's Room and Young Adult spaces will be closed on Friday as we prepare for Mini-Golf at the Library! We apologize for the inconvenience!

Tides of Change: Our Coast, Our Future 2026 Climate Series
|
We are pleased to announce our fifth annual Climate Series, Tides of Change: Our Coast, Our Future, in partnership with York Ready for Climate Action and York Land Trust. Since 2022, YPL has partnered with local organizations and regional experts to offer accessible, community-focused programs that explore the many dimensions of climate change. In nine programs from Febraury to April, we examine the Gulf of Maine—one of the fastest-warming ocean regions in the world.
Our 2026 series features programs that connect global climate trends to local experiences along the Maine coast. Topics include ocean plastic pollution and microplastics, the impacts of warming waters on seabirds and marine habitats, and the challenges facing Maine’s lobstering industry. Through expert presentations, documentary screenings, and a guided salt marsh walk, participants will explore how climate change is affecting the Gulf of Maine, coastal flooding, and vital ecosystems—while also learning about ongoing research, restoration efforts, and practical ways communities can build resilience and protect coastal resources.
