York Public Library is excited to announce the 2025 Climate Change Series: Coastal Impacts and Resources in partnership with York Ready for Climate Action and York Land Trust.  Now in our fourth consecutive year this hybrid series will be predominately virtual with some in-person and off-site options.  Sessions will include:  Sea Level Rise on Feb. 12; Offshore Wind on Feb. 26; How to Speak Bird on March 12; Native Bird Stroll on March 16; Working Waterfront on March 26; Coastal Tourism and Sustainability on April 9, Helping Coastal Towns to Adapt on April 23; and Invasive Plant Removal on April 29.  All are welcome and encouraged to join us for one or more sessions.

Thank you to all who joined us for the Mini-Golf Tournament on January 31 and Family Fun Day on Saturday, February 1. Congratulations to this year's winning team, York Soccer whose name will be engraved on our golf trophy for display within the library.  We appreciate all of our sponsors, volunteers, and golfers who made this year's event so successful!

Remember York Public Library has many new books, puzzles, and media, as well as streaming services, all of which are perfect for a snowy day!

A Death Cafe is a group-guided open conversation about death (with sweets!). There is no agenda, objectives, or themes. Leona Oceania will serve as facilitator to keep the conversation going (rarely necessary), answer questions, and correct misinformation. It is a discussion group rather than grief support or counseling.  The objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.  You will find a link below with more information about the program facilitator and Death Cafe.

The Death Cafe is co-sponsored by York Public Library and York County Service Association.

Christine Bagley will share the story of how this collection of short stories came together over 15 years. The following are some examples of the stories included in this collection.

The Elevator: the story of a woman trapped in an elevator, who thinks she is dying, and confesses her sins on a laptop.

The Scapegoat: A woman hanged for witchcraft in 1692 in Salem, Mass, returns to right history through the author who is writing about her.

The Madness of Ida Mae: tells of an older woman trying to win back her husband who left her, by wearing movie star wigs, heavy make-up, and push-up bras to win him back.
