Our librarian columnist Rebecca Colbert addresses the need for resiliency, a life skill that we can all benefit from. She shares some of her favorite self-help titles that provide steps for picking up the pieces, no matter what life hands you. She also suggests some fiction and non-fiction titles featuring fascinating characters to learn from and be inspired by. Enjoy!
Celebrate Strong Women
Kamala. Ruth. Eleanor. Malala. Rosa. Gaga. Alice. Beyoncé. Maya. Georgia. Dolly. Sally. Serena. The first names of these fascinating women are shorthand for the contributions that they, and countless others, have made to politics, law, human rights, music, poetry, art, literature, sports, science, and so much more. Celebrate this important month with us as we guide you through our library catalog of books, movies, and music by inspiring, courageous, talented, historic ladies.
It's That Time Again
The start of a new month means a new Vegas Golden Knights free collectible bookmark to pick up at your neighborhood branch. The Library District continues its partnership in literacy with the Vegas Golden Knights with the launch of the team’s 2021 bookmark series. There is a new spotlighted player each month, and March is Defenseman Alec Martinez.
Our free Vegas Golden Knights bookmarks provide local hockey fans with little-known facts about players’ favorite books, movies, and music. Fans can also check out “Chance’s Chat,” a special blog on the Library District website at LVCCLD.org/VGK to learn even more.
Besides our VGK bookmarks, your library is bursting with wonderful, free, and fascinating things to discover and do. Stop by any branch during our convenient hours located HERE, or log in to our website at LVCCLD.org 24/7 to stream or download free books, movies, and music from the comfort of your home.
We hope to see you soon at the library!
