Desire knows no reason...
When Lady Delilah Chambers finds herself stranded at a country inn on a rain-swept evening, she's forced to fend off a group of ruffians with the help of a handsome gentleman. Irresistibly drawn to each other, Leela and the stranger spend one reckless night in each others' arms--and then go their separate ways. But the very next day Leela receives the shock of her life when she meets the duke who is set on wedding her beloved stepdaughter.
When it finds two destined hearts...
One night isn't enough with a woman as fierce, fiery, and brilliant as Leela. Elliot Townsend, Duke of Huntington, cannot believe his good fortune when their chance encounter leads to an unforgettable evening of passion. Yet Hunt's luck runs out when he is introduced to his prospective mother-in-law. Dowagers aren't supposed to look like this...
Leela and Hunt are determined to keep each other at arm's length, which should be easy enough for two intelligent adults with reputations to uphold. The problem is all logic is lost when it comes to a passion that refuses to be ignored.

Publisher's Weekly Review
Mutual pining is the driving force behind the sensual, unputdownable Regency romance that launches Quincy's Clandestine Affairs series (after the Rebellious Brides series). Delilah Chambers takes refuge from a storm at the Black Swan Inn, but is denied a room because she is of Arab descent. Fellow inn guest Elliot Townsend comes to her rescue from a group of drunken harassers--not that the knife-wielding beauty needs his help. Elliot offers to share his room with the sumptuous Delilah, and, though he is soon-to-be-engaged, the pair share a passionate, impulsive night of sex and conversation. But upon returning to London, Elliot learns that Delilah is the Countess of Devon and Delilah realizes Elliot is the Duke of Huntington--and he's staying with her family to court her beloved stepdaughter, Victoria. The two awkwardly tiptoe around each other attempting to put their feelings aside. Elliot needs a respectable wife to restore his family's reputation, while Delilah lives a life of far-flung travels that she has no plans of giving up. Their longing for but mutual avoidance of each other provides delicious torture throughout. Sexy, romantic, and unexpectedly contemporary in its approach, this is sure to win over readers with its spitfire heroine and humble hero. Agent: Kevin Lyon, Marsal Lyon Literary. (Sept.)
Booklist Review
What harm will one night do? That is what Lady Delilah "Leela" Chambers tells herself when a torrential rainstorm leaves her stranded in a standing-room-only inn outside of Coventry, and Elliot Townsend, Duke of Huntington, offers to share his accommodations with her. Both Leela and Hunt agree that whatever happens between them that night will be a one-time-only affair. So, of course, Leela is a bit disconcerted when she arrives at her late husband's estate to meet her stepdaughter Victoria's new beau, who is none other than Hunt, the very man Leela got to know so very well the night before. Quincy cleverly incorporates much-loved genre tropes into the daringly sensual plot of her print romance debut, and this combined with the refreshingly original, boldly adventurous heroine, who fully embraces her Middle Eastern family origins, makes this marvelously entertaining love story the literary equivalent of catnip for historical romance fans, especially those who may have become a bit jaded.
Library Journal Review
After two years in Arabia with her mother's family, Delilah Chambers, Countess of Devon, returns to England to visit her stepdaughter, Victoria. Elliot Townsend, Duke of Huntington, is on his way to call on Victoria, his betrothed, when he is forced to spend the night at a rural inn. He shares his room with Leela in order to protect her from the local thugs, and the couple gives in to their desires for the night, expecting they will never see each other again. Upon meeting Victoria, both are shocked to discover the other's true identity. Both Hunt and Leela fight against their feelings, and Hunt continues his betrothal to Victoria despite falling in love with her stepmother, Leela. VERDICT Quincy ("Rebellious Brides" series) delivers a steamy Regency fraught with family discord as well as societal and racial prejudices. This gripping series starter ultimately triumphs with an honorable hero and a spirited Anglo-Arab heroine who fights for acceptance and love on her own terms.--Eve Stano, Ball State Univ. Muncie, IN
