 Virtual Family Trivia Night

Our Fall Food Drive Continues
 
Please help our neighbors in need by donating non-perishable, non-expired food to the bin in the front lobby. Donations can be dropped off any time we are open.
 
Cell Phones for Soldiers
part of The Great Give Back
 
Donate gently-used cell phones (with batteries) to the box across from the Patron Services desk. Please factory reset your phones & remove SIM cards. Ends October 31.

 
 
Annual Winter Warmth Collection
November 2 - December 14
 
Please donate new socks, slippers, hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens in any size to the Children's Department. The Bellport Hagerman East Patchogue Alliance will distribute them to local families in need.

The Children's Department is open for browsing. There are no toys or games. Two internet/typing computers are available for kids to use.
The Grab-and-Go model is still in effect.

Gingerbread House Kit
A Family Holiday Take-and-Make
In-person registration only. Supplies are limited, so register at the Reference Desk or Children's Desk soon!
Plan a family night at home to decorate a gingerbread house for the holidays! Each bakery-fresh house is 4.5" by 5" by 7.25" high, comes pre-assembled from Fanny Cakes bakery, and sits on a 10" round board which can also be decorated. The house comes packaged with royal icing to attach the included candy.
Limit one house kit per family using an Adult South County Library Card. Pick up your kit between December 10th and 12th.

When you check out one of the books from our special October book display, you can get a cute bat craft kit, too!

stop by the Children's Desk to get a special treat bag with stickers, pretzels, a realistic earthworm, and more!

Come see our voting books display and ballot box. Your child can cast a vote for the book characters Pete the Cat or Mo Willems' Pigeon! Who will win?
 
 
Read With Me
Sign up your child for a one-on-one virtual session with a children's librarian. The librarian will read one book to your child, and your child can practice their reading skills and read a book to the librarian. Email childrens@sctylib.org to schedule a 15-minute session with us.

Peconic Bay Scallops: Yesterday and Today

Local historian Erin Becker presents a history of the Peconic Bay scallop industry, explaining the role of the scallop in Long Island heritage and cuisine. Last year, the scallop season opened to find that 90% of the scallops had died. How does the history of this industry tell us about where it stands today? Click here to register.

Outdoor Qigong at the Post Morrow Foundation
16 Bay Road, Brookhaven

Join us for in-person Qigong. This ancient, evidence-based Chinese healing art consists of low-impact exercises which help to lower blood pressure, increase bone density, and improve balance. Instructor Tom Linden is certified by the Center for Taiji Studies.
