Step-by-step projects, intriguing quotations from successful artists, diagrams, and even troubleshooting plans are found throughout. Gonzales, who lives in New Mexico, draws heavily upon the influences of Henri Matisse, Georgia O'Keeffe, and David Hockney, painting in a style characterized by bright colors, simple shapes, abstraction or distortion, and strong use of patterns.
