Cold Weather Planning Winter doesn’t officially start for another two weeks, but the cold temperatures are already here and the rainy season is around the corner. Residents can also sign up for AlertSCC, the county’s official emergency alert and notification system. Alerts can include fire, earthquake, severe weather, and crime incidents that affect your neighborhood. Be prepared, curl up with a good book or movie from the Library, and stay safe this Winter season.

Celebrating Hanukkah The eight-day Festival of Lights starts this week. Tradition is to give gifts on each night, with the best one saved for last! Other customs include the lighting of the menorah, enjoying foods such as latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly-filled doughnuts), and making charitable donations. We have many picture books in the Library, as well as books, movies and more for all ages to learn about and celebrate Hanukkah.
