The Distinguished Author Series Returns This Spring
The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is proud to announce the return of the Distinguished Author Series. This four-part, virtual author series begins in April.
 
The Distinguished Author Series brings together great authors who spark new thoughts, ideas, and deep discussion. Delve into the minds of award-winning authors, scientists and artists to explore topics including the biology of stress and related diseases, the impact of technology on present lives and the future, and immigration.

Kid's Art Club:
Bubble Paint Flowers
Celebrate Spring at our next Kid’s Art Club on Tuesday.
 
We will be making Bubble Paint Flowers by blowing paint bubbles with a straw to create our work. Choose any color paint you want! You’ll need heavy white paper, a dish with low sides (like a pie pan), a straw, green construction paper or paint, glue, paint and bubble solution.

Teen Book of the Month Pick
The Teen Book of the Month is Last Girls by Demetra Brodsky.
 
It tells the story of three sisters whose mother is a doomsday prepper. They have to keep their lifestyle a secret at school, while dealing with the demands at home.

SVR Special Event: Connecting with Nature in a Pandemic
Join us on Thursday for a special Silicon Valley Reads event, "Connecting with Nature in a Pandemic."
 
David Yarnold, president of the National Audubon Society and Andrea Mackenzie, General Manager of the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, will discuss the impact of the pandemic on the environment. Also hear from bird and nature experts to learn on ways we can all be more connected to the environment.

We are hosting another TED-style talk for teens.
 
Join us on Saturday, March 20 for Overcoming Obstacles in Entrepreneurship. Hear from local entrepreneurs about what it takes to start and successfully run your own company. There’s also an opportunity to ask questions.
