Finish the School Year Strong with Help from the Library The school year is winding down, and your student may have end of year assignments due soon or finals tests coming up. The library has free resources to help your student succeed! Many of our libraries offer afterschool Homework Help programs. Students in grades K-6 can drop in and get help with their homework. See the schedule here. Our Online Library has electronic resources to help students. Brainfuse HelpNow offers online tutoring and homework help seven days a week from 1 – 10 p.m. This includes live online tutoring, a writing lab, study resources and test prep. Spanish tutors are available. LearningExpress Library offers skill-building courses and eBooks to help with reading, writing, and math. And of course, if you need a particular book for an assignment, just ask any of our librarians for help finding it. Students -- You've got this!

Book Clubs for Kids There are so many benefits to book clubs, like reading books you would not normally read and learning different perspectives. While our libraries host book clubs for adults, we also have book clubs for kids! Check them out and register to save your spot. Comics Plus App Update We want to let patrons know about an update coming from our free resource Comics Plus. The company is changing its app name from LibraryPass to Comics Plus. Existing users will not have to download the new app; it will be updated during the next Comics Plus update. If you haven’t tried Comics Plus yet, give it a try! Enjoy thousands of digital graphic novels and comics, available 24/7 on web-connected devices. This includes fiction and nonfiction, indie comics, Sunday funnies, and manga.

Mental Health Awareness for Teens However, this is still a great time to join the national conversation about mental health, educate yourself and others, find resources, and remember you are not alone. Being a teenager comes with its own unique set of challenges and tough situations. Our libraries have compiled books and resources from mental health to addiction to social issues and more.

eResources for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles and Boats Whether you are a novice or an expert, we invite mechanics to try our online resources for repairing and maintaining cars and small engines. Auto Repair Source is perfect for anyone looking to repair their automobiles. Accessible from devices, this eResource is available to patrons wherever they are, allowing them to look at schematics and guides from their own garages. Need help with smaller engines? Try the Small Engine Repair Reference Center. From motorcycles to ATVs and tractors to lawnmowers, patrons will finally have a place to find schematics and guides for small engines. Virtual Author Talks in JuneThe schedule for our Virtual Author Talk series in June has been released. Register for the programs you are interested in attending. Matt Shindell, the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum curator, will discuss his book, For the Love of Mars. The book introduces readers to historical figures across eras and around the world who have made sense of this mysterious planet. His talk is Monday, June 3 at 11 a.m. Register here. Be Ready for Wildfires Despite a wet winter, residents should always be ready for fire season. In fact, May is National Wildfire Awareness Month. There are steps you can take right now to be prepared. 1. Sign up to receive alerts from AlertSCC 2. Make a plan 3. Build an emergency supply kit for when you need to evacuate, and 4. May is National Bike Month What's an easy way to add a little more activity to your day? Take your next bike trip to the grocery store or work, to meet up with friends, or anywhere really! Make every bike ride count this Bike Month by joining the Bay Area Bike Challenge to celebrate Bike to Wherever Day’s 30th anniversary. Discover Santa Clara County’s 160+ miles of bike trails within 18 regional parks. If you are a bicycling beginner, find some books on how to find, maintain and enjoy your bike. The County of Santa Clara’s Public Health Department recently launched the Gilroy Moves Safely page, which offers useful and important safety tips for all pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers. Need a quick bike repair? The Gilroy and Cupertino Libraries have free bike repair stations.

Join the Library with an Instant Free eCard If you live in Santa Clara County and do not have a library card with the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD), or would like additional household members to have their own library accounts, the instant free eCard is for you. eCards are available to all residents who live within Santa Clara County Library District with a valid residential mailing address (P.O. Box not accepted). You can also visit any of our libraries during open hours to convert your eCard, or apply for a full use card to check out any of our physical and digital materials and resources.
