Summer Reading is Here! Dive into the pages of thrilling tales, explore far-off lands, and meet fascinating characters along the way. Our program offers something for everyone, whether you are an adult, teen, or child. Join us for events including special performances, book clubs, and more. It’s free and fun for all ages! It’s easy to get started with SCCLD’s Summer Reading program. Just log in and register on Beanstack. Participants can earn a prize for reading five books and completing an activity, so make sure to log it all on Beanstack. Adventure Begins at Your Library runs through July 31. Completion prizes will be available from August 1 – 31, while supplies last. Register now and check out our free programs and recommended reading at sccld.org/summer.

Free Meals Available to Kids Children ages 0 – 18 can receive free, nutritious meals starting Monday, June 10 between 12 – 1 p.m. (excluding holidays and while supplies last). Following lunch, patrons are invited to stay for enrichment programming, such as arts & crafts, games, and special presentations. Morgan Hill Library’s Lunch at the Library program runs through Friday, August 9, and Gilroy Library’s program runs through Friday, August 16.  Father's Day is Coming Up Celebrate dad and other father figures on Sunday, June 18. The weather is nice and warm, making it a great time to get outside and barbecue. Learn grill master secrets, find inspiration to try a new menu with these cookbooks, or try out New York Times Cooking! Create something meaningful with our free crafting resource, CreativeBug.

Contests for Teens Young photographers ages 12 to 18 are invited to capture their adventures and show off their photo skills by entering our Teen Photo Contest. All original photography is welcome. Winners will be displayed on SCCLD’s website, displayed at our libraries, and may be reproduced for public distribution. The contest runs through July 31. Submit an entry here. We are also offering our Teen Bookmark Art Contest, where budding artists ages 12 to 18 are invited to submit original bookmark designs centered on the theme, Capture Your Adventure. This also runs through July 31, with winning designs printed and given out at our libraries. The artists will also be recognized for their work. Find details and prior examples on our website.

Audiobook Appreciation Month June is Audiobook Appreciation Month. Find thousands of Audiobooks (and eBooks) using our free resource, Overdrive. Use hoopla to download or stream eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital comics, music, movies, and TV series in a browser or mobile app! Borrow up to 10 titles a month, with no waitlists.

And the Winners Are..... Bay Area students were invited to submit pieces that explored how social media and the world around them influences self-perception. The EDRC aims to promote self and body acceptance, increase media literacy, and empower youth to challenge harmful diet culture ideals head-on, all of which can play a pivotal role in preventing the onset of eating disorders among younger generations.
