Silicon Valley Reads Companion Books The community engagement program Silicon Valley Reads also includes companion books for young readers. Youth can embark on their own technological journeys with these selected titles: Younger participants can also enjoy dozens of free programs including author visits, demonstrations, activities, storytimes, crafts, and more throughout February and March. |

Tutors are ready to guide you through your assignments so you can enjoy your holiday stress-free! Get help with writing, rest prep, learning Spanish and other resources. Tutors are available 1 – 10 p.m. every day. Spanish tutors are also available. |
Meditation at Your Fingertips This can be a very stressful time of year for people. Daylight Saving Time just ended and some of us are adjusting to the new schedule, the General Election is around the corner, and the holidays are coming up. Take a few minutes to unwind with the app Headspace. The app is designed for busy, modern lives to learn the essentials of meditation and mindfulness in just a few minutes a day. The app offers hundreds of guided meditations on a variety of topics - from stress and sleep, to focus and performance. |
Native American Heritage Month Film Series In honor of Native American Heritage Month, SCCLD is hosting several important programs. This includes a screening and presentation of the short film, Contemporary Indigenous Voices of California's South Coast Range. The film is an intimate portrayal of leaders of Indigenous communities, providing a platform for them to share their stories around connections to land, climate change, and rematriation: restoring the relationship between Indigenous people and their ancestral land. Photographer and documentarian Kirti Bassendine will discuss her work and accompanying films. Cupertino Library: November 9 at 3 p.m. Gilroy Library: November 12 at 7 p.m. Los Altos Library: November 18 at 7 p.m. Morgan Hill Library: November 26 at 6 p.m. All are welcome, no registration is required. Special Program: Detecting Fraud The risk of becoming a victim of fraud and scams has never been higher with emerging technologies, the reach of global communications, and instant payments. We invite you to join us for a special webinar hosted by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation on Tuesday, November 12 at 5:15 p.m. You will learn about the different types of scams, how they work, the red flags and warning signs, and how to safeguard yourself and your community from these threats. Educational resources and print materials will be made available via email. |
Election Day is Tomorrow The General Election is on Tuesday, November 5. Drop off your ballots at an official drop box outside of our libraries (for the Campbell Express, it’s by the pool on the other side of the Community Center complex). Voters can find additional drop box sites here. Or if you prefer to vote in person, drop by one of our five locations that are hosting Vote Centers: Cupertino, Gilroy, Milpitas, Morgan Hill and Saratoga Libraries. Election hours on Monday, November 4 are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and on Election Day, the hours are 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Voters who would like to view the voter guide, and official voter information for the election can visit our Voting Resources page. |
Early Bird Access at Select Libraries SCCLD offers early access at two libraries to accommodate patrons’ busy schedules. Open Access allows patrons to enjoy exclusive, self-service access to browse books, check out library materials, relax and read, or use the free WiFi before the Gilroy and Woodland Libraries fully opens to the public. In addition, Woodland Library offers access to computers, printers, and copy machines. It's easy to get started! 2. Once you have completed the form, take it to the accounts desk. 3. Staff will walk you through a short demonstration of how to scan your card to access self-service hours. 4. Once the demonstration is completed, staff will update your library card to allow access to self-service hours. Open Access is available at Gilroy Library Sunday -- Wednesday, from 10 a.m. -- 1 p.m. (excluding holidays). Woodland Library’s Open Access hours are 8 – 11 a.m. Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday (excluding holidays). Please note: No staff assistance will be provided during Open Access hours, so if you need help, please visit during regular library hours for full service. |

If you live in Santa Clara County and do not have a library card with the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD), or would like additional household members to have their own library accounts, the instant free eCard is for you. eCards are available to all residents who live within Santa Clara County Library District with a valid residential mailing address (P.O. Box not accepted). You can also visit any of our libraries during open hours to convert your eCard, or apply for a full use card to check out any of our physical and digital materials and resources.
