Distinguished Author Series Culminates with Jhumpa Lahiri The Distinguished Author Series was created to bring together great authors who spark new thoughts, ideas and deep discussion. We have had the wonderful opportunity to welcome talented authors including Stanford Professor Dr. Robert Sapolsky, computer scientist Jaron Lanier and bestselling novelist Joyce Carol Oates. We finish the series with Pulitzer Prize-winning short story writer Jhumpa Lahiri, in a conversation moderated by Bay Area bestselling writer Meg Clayton. A recording of Lahiri’s event will be made available for a limited time after the event. Lahiri received the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for Interpreter of Maladies, a debut story collection that explores issues of love and identity among immigrants and cultural transplants. Her most recent novel, Whereabouts, tells the story of a solitary middle-aged professor living in Italy. Her life is outwardedly tranquil, yet she is not at peace with herself. Our Adult Book Discussion Group will be discussing Whereabouts on Thursday, May 20. Register to participate. We’d like to thank the Cupertino Library Foundation, Los Altos Library Endowment, Friends of the Milpitas Library and the Saratoga Friends of the Libraries for their generosity and support for the Distinguished Author Series.
