Preregister now for our Summer Reading Program, Reading Colors Your World.

Between June 1-July 31st, earn rewards for reading five books and completing one activity.

Be sure to join us for the fun virtual programs we have scheduled this summer, including animals, magic storytimes, art, STEAM and LEGOs! We will also have special events for teens and adults.

Our librarians have created many booklists around the theme, Reading Colors Your World. Check them out here.
Master Gardeners: Basil
Gardening is a great family activity during the summer. It’s a great way to teach children about where their food comes from.

Basil is a fantastic herb to grow in Santa Clara County. This versatile plant comes in many varieties and adds a delicious flavor to dishes.

Join our Master Gardeners as we discuss ways to grow great basil, including how to provide the sun, soil, and garden culture it needs to thrive.

This Zoom event will be on Tuesday, May 18. Register now to save your spot!

Online Book Club Meeting Thursday, May 20
Our Online Book Club will be discussing the novel, Whereabouts, by Distinguished Author Series featured author Jhumpa Lahiri. Register for the Book Club here.

The book was originally written in Italian and translated into English by Lahiri. It tells the story of a solitary middle-aged woman living in Italy. The character is a professor and writer whose life is outwardly tranquil, but she is not at peace with herself. Find the book in our libraries.

The Distinguished Author Series featuring Lahiri is on Saturday, May 22. People can register to get a spot on the waitlist. A recording of the event will be made available for a limited time after the event.

MORE FROM THE LIBRARY

May is Mental Health
Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Month, a time to recognize mental health is something everyone should care about. This year’s theme is Tools 2 Thrive, providing practical tools everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of their personal situation.

Find books that raise awareness about mental health on Overdrive.

Patrons are also invited to use Headspace. This free meditation app is designed to help you stress less, move more and sleep soundly.
Changes Coming to Online Streaming Service
We want to let patrons know about a change coming to one of our online resources.

AcornTV will be discontinued on Friday, May 14, 2021. This change is due to the vendor’s decision to no longer offer this service to libraries. If the vendor reconsiders, the library may be able to offer this service again in the future.

We continue to offer other video streaming services, including Kanopy, which carries films and documentaries and Overdrive, which offers TV shows, movies and more.
