Storybook SCCLD Play Space Update
We have exciting news to report!

Installation of the Storybook SCCLD children’s play space at Saratoga Library is just about wrapped up. We will be celebrating with a grand opening on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m.! We welcome children ages 0-10 to play in the Redwood Romp play space, experiencing the magic of the redwood forests that are a special part of Saratoga. Patrons are welcome to the grand opening to enjoy free entertainment and activities.

Each play space incorporates a marquee entry with child-size doorway, interactives for little hands to practice motor skills, reading nooks for quiet play, playhouses for imaginative play, a toddler slide for active play, an interactive learning area for babies and toddlers, a balance element, and seating for children and their caregivers. This project is being designed and developed with Luci Creative, Ravenswood Studio, and Group 4 Architecture.

Installation of the Trusty Trails Play Space at Morgan Hill Library is set to begin on Friday, March 14. Gilroy Library’s Earthen Excursion Play Space will begin installation on Monday, March 17.

Please visit the Storybook SCCLD webpage to see the play space installation schedule for the other SCCLD libraries. This page will also introduce the team of friendly robots who serve as guides through Storybook SCCLD and themes for each play space. The page will be updated each month with brand new information, so please bookmark it for future use.

Movie Screening and
Virtual Author Visit
The Wild Robot by Peter Brown is one of this year’s Silicon Valley Reads companion book picks. Roz the robot discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island with no memory of where she is from or why she is there, and her only hope of survival is to try to learn about her new environment from the island's hostile inhabitants. The book was recently adapted to film.

We invite families to a special screening of the film on Sunday, March 30 at Los Altos Community Center. The film is Rated PG but all are welcome. Please register to save your spot.

Immediately after the film, join us for a virtual author talk with Peter Brown. This unique online event offers a rare opportunity to delve into the author's creative process, learn about his inspiration behind the heartwarming story of Roz the robot, and engage in a lively Q&A session. This program will also be at the Los Altos Community Center. Please register.
