The Spookiest Time of Year!
Get into the Halloween spirit with help from the library! We are your one-stop shop for creating Halloween costumes and crafts, and cooking up something scary good and delicious.

Try out our free online resource, CreativeBug, to find crafting videos. We also have a booklist that can help you find what you need for making costumes, decorating your house, carving pumpkins and more Halloween fun.

Scare yourself silly with horror movies available for free through Kanopy and Hoopla. Read about chilling places or cozy up with a Halloween mystery. Younger readers can check out some spooky books, and teens are invited to check out these scary titles.

Halloween is the most popular holiday among many of our library staff, so patrons can expect and enjoy free, fun programs planned throughout the month. Check out our calendar for Halloween themed programs.

We wish you a safe and happy Halloween!

Finding the Right Book at the Right Level
It can be challenging to get a child to read. We have online resources that can help families find books that can interest and excite young readers.

NoveList K-8 Plus is a database about books specifically for younger readers. It helps kids find books that are just right for their reading level and interests. Use your favorite books and authors to find new adventures! If you can't think of a book you've liked in the past, simply choose a topic of interest and explore lists of recommended books.

NextReads lets users select favorite book genres and receive customized booklists by email. Once you find a suggested read, make sure it is the right level by checking the Accelerated Reader Book Finder to check readability.

Early Voting in Libraries
The General Election is in just over two weeks, on Tuesday, November 4. The library has several ways to help voters cast their ballots.

Vote by Mail ballots are out, and most of our libraries have official ballot drop boxes outside of the libraries. Patrons in Campbell can find a ballot box at the Community Center near the Campbell Express Library. Voters can find additional drop box sites here.

Starting November 1, early in-person voting begins at Gilroy, Milpitas and Saratoga Libraries. The hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on November 1 – 3. Election Day hours are 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 20. For people who may miss the deadline, they can still conditionally register to vote. Please see how the process works here.

Voters who would like to view the voter guide, and official voter information for the upcoming election can visit our Voting Resources page.
