Celebrate America This
4th of July!

America turns 245 years old on Sunday. It was on July 4, 1776 when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, declaring the American colonies free and independent states.

The Library has a number of resources about American history. Look for nonfiction titles in our catalog, watch a documentary on Kanopy, explore military records, as well as Gale in Context U.S. History for historical data from primary sources and reference documents.

Our libraries will be closed and services unavailable on Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day. Our Online Library 24/7 is always available for eBooks, eMovies, music and much more.

SCCLD wishes you a safe and Happy Independence Day!

KIDS AND FAMILIES

Special Virtual Event:
Circus of Smiles
We invite children to a special virtual event on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Join us for the Circles of Smiles Gravity Defying Circus Show. Kids won’t be able to stop smiling with this amazing circus-inspired show full of silly characters, juggling, acrobatics, music and feats of incredible strength!

Register to watch this live event via Zoom. This program will be available for viewing afterwards for 1 week on our Facebook page or YouTube channel.
Get Outside and Play!
July is Park and Recreation Month.

According to the National Recreation and Park Association, local parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories for many families, including our first experiences in nature, an introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity. Parks are places to gather with friends and family, space to celebrate special moments, and spots of respite and healing.

Our children’s librarians have created this great booklist with ideas for expanding a child's horizons, getting wild and having fun outside!
