Announcing Text Notifications!

We are excited to announce a new way to get important library updates sent directly to your mobile phone or tablet.

Through our new text/SMS messaging service, you can receive direct notifications when your library holds are ready to be picked up, reminders about library material due dates, and when items have been successfully auto-renewed. Keep in mind, these notifications are for physical library materials only, not for items like downloadable eBooks or Audiobooks.

To sign up for our new messaging service, visit your Library Accounts Desk during open hours, call us at (408) 540-3945 or speak with the Bookmobile staff during a visit. You can opt-in anytime by visiting https://sccld.org/cardrenewal/

Please note: messaging rates by your carrier will apply.

We hope you enjoy this brand-new service!

KIDS AND FAMILIES

Get Ready for Kindergarten
Most children begin school in Santa Clara County when they are five years old. Whether or not your child has attended preschool or a school readiness program, you can prepare your soon-to-be kindergartner with our newly updated, librarian-approved resources, including contact information for local school districts.

We have divided the most important skillsets into six categories for you to explore and learn with your child:
-Health and Well-Being
-Early Literacy
-Social and Emotional Development
-Language and Communication Skills
-Mathematical Thinking
-Science

By visiting any of our skillset pages you will find checklists, programs, booklists, eResources, and websites. Find additional books in Spanish here. We hope you enjoy exploring, reading, and playing with your child to get them ready for kindergarten!
