Expanded Library Access Coming Soon! The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is happy to announce patrons will be able to enjoy expanded building access with up to 50% occupancy starting Monday, April 19. Patrons can browse the full library collection or enjoy computer and printing services at Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill and Saratoga Libraries Monday-Saturday. Campbell Library, in anticipation of its move later this spring in preparation for a full renovation, will continue to provide curbside and walkup service Monday-Saturday. The new open hours for expanded access will be announced at a later date. Library events will continue to be held virtually. -Visitors must be COVID-19 symptom free, wear a face covering and maintain social distance. -Hand sanitizer is available to patrons as they enter and exit the library. Visitors are asked to keep their visits to one hour. Each library has self-service machines to check out items. Patrons will need to have their library card with them, or know their library card number and PIN to use the self-check machines. Patrons can call (408) 540-3945 for assistance with their library account.

National Library Week: Welcome to Your Library! This week is National Library Week, a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries, library workers contributions and promote library use and support. The theme for this year is “Welcome to Your Library.” Since the pandemic began, library workers continue to make resources available and adapt service delivery during these difficult times to meet the needs of the community. Teen Poetry Contest Submit up to three original poems by April 30. One winner from each library will be chosen in the following categories: Grades 6-8 (Middle School) and Grades 9-12 (High School). Winners will receive a $50 gift card and a hardcover of the Teen Poetry Contest book.

Speaking Volumes: Bo Caldwell Patrons still have time to register for the annual Speaking Volumes event this Wednesday, April 7. The Los Altos Library Endowment (LALE) has invited Bo Caldwell, author of the bestseller, The Distant Land of My Father (2002), as well as City of Tranquil Light (2011). Caldwell will focus on the topic, “Why I Write.” She will discuss the importance of staying connected to the work we love, and how doing just that both challenges and sustains us. On a temporary basis during the COVID-19 crisis, eCards are available to all residents who live within Santa Clara County with a valid residential mailing address (P.O. Box not accepted). |
