Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Marks a Major Milestone Santa Clara County recently reached a milestone, mailing 100,000 books to children living in the county ages 0-5 who are registered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Each month, a high-quality, age appropriate book is sent to each child, with a choice of English or Spanish titles. This is a great way to inspire an early love of learning. June Summer Reading Events Our libraries have dozens of special events and activities planned for the first half of June. These include bubble performances at the Morgan Hill and Los Altos libraries, a magic show at the Saratoga Library, animal shows at the Campbell Library and the Morgan Hill Library, music at the Cupertino Library and a puppet show at the Campbell Library. The Gilroy Library also has a foam party! Mark your calendars and we'll see you at the library.

Fun Teen Events this Month Teens have a number of activities to check out the first half of June as part of Summer Reading, including an evening Lock-in at the Los Altos Library, a paint party at the Gilroy and Saratoga libraries, a DJ Workshop at the Cupertino Library, a garden art event at the Morgan Hill Library and a flower craft at the Milpitas Library. Be sure to register in advance as space is limited at some of these events!

Events for Adults Adults have some great programs as well to take part in, starting with several book clubs. Other events include Campbell Library's basic Chinese language and culture classes, which will take place over several sessions. Adults can also decorate your Summer Reading tote bag or make a seed mosaic at the Morgan Hill Library.

Become a Volunteer Adult Literacy Tutor or Learner Do you have a few hours per week to share the gift of literacy with an adult English learner? The Reading Program is looking for volunteer tutors who are 18+ and can read and write in English. Training will be provided. No previous experience is needed. One-hour informational sessions will be held at the Gilroy Library, on Wed., June 10 at 1PM and 6 PM. Please register. If you are an adult wanting to improve your basic English reading and writing skills, two informational sessions for new learners are scheduled for Wed., June 17 at 11 AM and 6 PM. Please register.

Election Day is June 2! The State Election is Tuesday, June 2. Our Cupertino, Gilroy, Milpitas, Morgan Hill and Saratoga Libraries, plus our Services & Support Center in Campbell, are hosting Voting Centers from 7 AM to 8 PM on election day. Ballots can also be dropped into a ballot box at all of our libraries.

Help Save a Life Opioids like fentanyl are an epidemic harming friends, families and neighbors in Santa Clara County. The County Public Health Department is presenting a one-hour course on how to apply naloxone spray (better known as Narcan) in an emergency situation. The first two sessions will be on Wed., June 3 at the Morgan Hill Library and June 10 at the Gilroy Library. Those who attend will receive free doses of Narcan to take home.

New Storywalk® Title!Mouse House Tales by Susan Pearson, illustrated by Amanda Shepherd, is a children's book about a mouse building a home and solving a mystery with her animal friends. Follow along as you read the book and enjoy STEAM related family activities on each page with one option for little ones and a second option for older children. Families can enjoy Storywalk in city parks including Campbell (Jack Fisher Park), Gilroy (Christmas Hill Park), Milpitas (Murphy Park), Morgan Hill (Community Park), & Saratoga (Kevin Moran Park).
