Limited Edition Bay FC Library Cards Coming Soon!

We are kicking off National Library Card Sign-up Month with a big assist from the Bay Area’s new National Women’s Soccer League team, Bay FC. Two original library card designs featuring the team’s logo will be available at all SCCLD libraries and Bookmobile for free to both new and existing patrons starting on Sunday, September 1.

Every September, as the new school year starts, the American Library Association and libraries nationwide celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month. We want to make sure every child, teen and adult has their very own library card. Supplies of the new Bay FC cards are limited, so don't wait and miss out!

SCCLD libraries offer free access to services and resources that would normally cost hundreds of dollars. This includes books, eBooks, audiobooks, programs & activities for all ages, homework help, movies, music, video games, digital magazines and newspapers, and more.

Your library card can also get you into county and state parks free, as well as Bay Area museums and galleries.

A free SCCLD library card is valid at any of our eight locations, the Bookmobile, and the entire Online Library. Do you know someone who needs a library card? Find SCCLD library card applications here or stop by any of our libraries.

Find some biographies and memoirs about female soccer players here, and enjoy these children's titles as well!

TEENS AND ADULTS
September is National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. Here are major preparation tips from Listos California:

Sign up for AlertSCC, Santa Clara County’s official emergency alert and warning system. Notifications may include fire, earthquake, severe weather, and crime. You can also find instructions on what to do during an emergency.

Make a plan by sitting down with your loved ones and learning about the types of threats that may occur in your area and what to do before, during, and after they occur.

Build emergency supply kits that can help you survive on your own until help arrives. You should have a “go bag” and “stay kit.” Don't forget to pack supplies for your four-legged family members too!

Once you all set, help family, friends, and neighbors get prepared also.

Find additional preparedness resources from the Office of Emergency Management here.
