We have a Halloween Online Storytime on Saturday at 11 a.m. Then on Sunday at 11 a.m. join us for a Day of the Dead Altar virtual tour. Learn all about the traditional elements of an altar and its celebration of life. Both events will be streamed on Facebook.

Read for the Record is This Week The 15th Annual Read for the Record is set for Thursday, October 29. Every year, millions of adults and children around the world read the same book on the same day to raise awareness about early literacy and access to high quality books.

Storytime Seedlings Podcast We invite parents of young children to join us for our Storytime Seedlings Podcast on Soundcloud. These educational and entertaining podcasts focus on early literacy development for children from newborn to five years old, and are available whenever you want to enjoy them! Each podcast has storytimes, songs, fingerplays, and pre-literacy tips for parents. Enjoy the latest edition which is all about Fun with ABC’s and 123’s!

12th Annual Writing Contest Students in grades 6-12 living in the Bay Area are invited to send in a poem or essay that addresses self-acceptance, mental health, social media, or body image. The ultimate goal of the contest is raising awareness about topics often stigmatized, encouraging youth to speak out and share ideas towards a solution. Entries will be accepted through March 5, 2021. The writers of the top three poems and essays could win up to $300!

New Teen Video Series: Taking Care of Your Mental Health We are launching a new teen video series next Monday, November 2. Visit our YouTube channel to watch videos related to teens’ mental health. The videos will cover a range of topics from stress to self care. New videos will be posted every week. Also, join us for a virtual program on Tuesday, November 10. “Taking Back the Reins: How to Manage Stress When the World is Spinning” will be conducted over Zoom. Voter Information Available We’re in the closing stretch of a very long campaign season. Perhaps you are still undecided over some issues or candidates. The library has a page dedicated to Voting Resources, which includes links to voter guides and other interesting information such as historical data, political and campaign statements, and political finance data. The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has provided ballot collection bins across the County, including two at every SCCLD library, except for Cupertino, which has one located at nearby City Hall. Find the one closest to you. Our Service and Support Center in Campbell is serving as a Vote Center for those who wish to vote in person. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.

Brainfuse JobNow offers one-on-one assistance for finding a job, writing a resume and interview coaching. Live tutors are available seven days a week from 1–10 pm. Lynda.com offers online courses in business, software, technology and creative skills. Treehouse is an online video and interactive learning platform that teaches coding and web development skills. Topics include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, iOS, Android and more.

Join the Library with an Instant Free eCard If you live in Santa Clara County and do not have a library card with the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD), or would like additional household members to have their own library accounts, the instant free eCard is for you. On a temporary basis during the COVID-19 crisis, eCards are available to all residents who live within Santa Clara County with a valid residential mailing address (P.O. Box not accepted).
