Connect with us During
Silicon Valley Reads!

Celebrate the Silicon Valley Reads theme of “Connecting” by reading together!

We encourage everyone to read any of the ten selected books. Read with family, share with friends, or join a book club! Adults, kids, and teens can read together and share stories of connecting through art, music, books, nature, food, animals, and relationships.

Participate by registering in Beanstack and enrolling in SVR. Log one book that you’ve read and complete the “Write Your Thoughts” activity. That’s it!

We are also offering events throughout February and March centered on the theme of Connecting. Explore our calendar online.

Happy Reading!

Be-YOU-Tiful Be Free
Writing Contest
The Eating Disorders Resource Center (EDRC) is accepting submissions for the 12th annual Be-You-Tiful, Be Free Writing Contest.

Students in grades 6-12 living in the Bay Area are invited to send in a poem or essay that addresses self-acceptance, mental health, social media, or body image. The ultimate goal of the contest is raising awareness about topics often stigmatized, encouraging youth to speak out and share ideas towards a solution.

Entries will be accepted through March 5, 2021. The writers of the top three poems and essays could win up to $300!
Virtual Author Visit:

Join us on Saturday, February 20 as we celebrate African American history in Northern California through never before seen photos and untold stories with author Jan Batiste Adkins. Adkins is the author of three books, which tell the important stories of black pioneers from the 1700s to today.

Register to participate in this discussion via Zoom. A recording of the presentation will posted on our Facebook page and YouTube channel after the event.
