We have lots going on this month!

Going On Now at MPL!

MPL is deeply grateful for the generous outpouring of support for our annual Coat Drive. This year, we expanded our efforts to include children, in addition to teens, and our community responded with the compassion and generosity for which it is so well known. Donations poured in—not only coats and jackets, but also hats, gloves, mittens, sweatshirts, socks, and scarves—helping ensure that our young people stay warm throughout the season.

We extend special thanks to the South Texas National Junior Honor Society who selected the MPL Coat Drive as their service project and collected several pallets of cold-weather clothing. Their dedication exemplifies the spirit of service that makes our community truly remarkable. This extraordinary response is a source of pride for us all and a powerful reminder of the care we show one another.

Palm View Palm View Branch Library has been selected as one of only ten libraries in Texas to receive the Family Place Libraries Project Grant, an exciting step forward for families in our community. This grant will support the creation of new early learning spaces, expand our parenting collection, and allow staff to offer parent and child workshops focused on early literacy, learning, and family support. With this addition, Palm View continues to grow as a welcoming space where families can learn, play, and build strong foundations together.

May your 2026 be filled with good health, family,

and all that you need to thrive.

Congratulations to the students who completed twenty hours of Oral Conversation ESL through our partnership with South Texas College (STC). This second cohort of twenty four students met twice a week for five weeks at Palm View Branch Library, building confidence, practicing conversation skills, and supporting one another along the way. Their dedication paid off, and each participant earned two Continuing Education Units (CEWs) in recognition of their achievement.

What is your favorite book genre? And why?

My favorite genre would be Scifi because it's so fun to transport myself as a reader to a fictional world of "what if's".

What book series would you like to live in?

In the fictional town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada: Anne of Green Gables.

What do you enjoy most about working at a library?

I care about community involvement, so every event the Library hosts is special. Also, my department is amazing, they are what makes the workplace the best.
