 Hey Parents and Young Scientists! Grundy Library is thrilled to announce GSK's Science in the Summer program: "Be a Space Scientist!" From June 17-21, children will have the incredible opportunity to explore the wonders of space right here at Grundy. This exciting curriculum invites children to step into the shoes of real-life scientist and engineers, tackling the fascinating challenges of space exploration and travel. Each day, we'll dive into a new, thrilling space-related career: 🌟 Astrobiologists - Uncover the secrets of life beyond Earth. 🌟 Planetary Geologists - Study the mysteries of planets and moons. 🌟 Robotics Engineers - Design robots that could traverse other worlds. 🌟 Rocket Engineers - Learn about the forces that launch rockets into space. 🌟 Spacesuit Designers - Create the gear that keeps astronauts safe. This program is specially designed for children entering Grades 2-6. We are especially looking for more young scientists in Grades 5-6 to join our stellar crew! StoryWalk: Tugboat Bill and the River Rescue at Grundy River Park Enjoy the Grundy Library's StoryWalk on our grounds along the river from June 8th until July 27th featuring the book Tugboat Bill and the River Rescue by Calista Brill. The StoryWalk is self-guided and includes activity prompts to explore! The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Unleashing the Monster Within: A Youthful Encounter with Villains, Monsters, and Aliens June 26 - July 24 & July 31 - August 21 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Youth in grades 4-10 are invited to a thrilling summer writing workshop at Grundy Library! Using curriculum from Cosmic Writers, participants will create original adventure stories featuring monsters, aliens, and villains. Students can submit their stories in our Graphic Novel Contest. Workshop Schedule: June 26 - July 24: "Making a Monster, Adopting an Alien" There are monsters lurking inside us all, begging for us to tell their stories. In this workshop, participants will use writing and illustration to create their own unique monster characters. July 31 - August 21: "Becoming the Bad Guy" Have you ever wanted to get inside the mind of a villain? Or wondered what it would be like to do bad things? In this workshop, we will create our very own villain characters and drop them into various villainous situations. By the end of the course, each writer will choose one specific circumstance they'd like to explore in-depth and write a piece — in any genre! — about their character in that situation. Who Can Attend? Dates: - June 26 - July 24: "Making a Monster, Adopting an Alien"

Embark on a Summer Reading Adventure at Grundy Library! Summer 2024 June 1 - August 30  What adventures await you this summer? Will you marvel at the deep red buttes of Sedona or see penguins at the South Pole? Will you dive into the thrilling history of early aviators or astronauts? Perhaps you'll explore life on the African continent. Where will your reading take you this summer? Join The Adventure Begins at Your Library 2024 Adult Summer Reading Club and earn raffle tickets for a chance to win one of three Amazon gift cards. Here’s how it works: - You can read or listen to any book. Library books and audiobooks are available for checkout with a valid library card.
- All books and audiobooks must be read between June 1, 2024, and the final drawing on August 30, 2024.
- Submit a complete entry form for each book or audiobook you finish. Remember, incomplete entries are ineligible for prizes.
- There’s no limit to the number of entries per patron. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win!
- Entries must be dropped in the entry box (in-person only).
- Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Each individual can win only once during the 2024 Club. The entry box is emptied after each drawing.
- Winners need to claim their prizes within seven days and need not be present to win.

We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from March through June for a delightful one-mile stroll around historic Bristol Borough. Escorted by a friendly staff member, Club members will enjoy the scenic views of the nearby Delaware River while reaping the benefits of fresh air and exercise. As we walk, we'll tread the same streets once strolled by notable figures like industrialist and U.S. Senator Joseph R. Grundy, Medal of Honor recipient Michael Dougherty, and WWII U.S. diplomat and ship manufacturer Averell Harriman. Important: A one-time 2024 signed waiver of participation is required to join the walks. The waiver is available at each meeting.
