A Message from the Library Director

Dear Bristol Borough Community and Grundy Patrons,

Autumn greetings from the Grundy Library!

The Grundy Library remains an essential resource for students, families, teachers and the entire community to pursue lifelong learning and personal growth. In addition, we are dedicated to connecting our community members with the support they need throughout their lives. From our collection of books, movies, museum passes, databases and specialty kits to our streaming services, virtual programming and helpful staff, the Library is committed to providing access to information, resources, and assistance whenever you need it.

Visit the Library online -anytime, anywhere – to search our online catalog, use our research databases, explore local history, chat with a librarian, and so much more.

As a reminder, the Library building is closed for construction. Some of the improvements in progress are new paint and carpeting, study rooms, a riverside seating area, patio terraces, and a new roof!

Thank you for your ongoing support and patronage while our building is closed.  We continue to serve you and the Bristol community via our curbside pickup service as well as through our virtual programs, virtual activities and a variety of remote services. We are here for you and happy to help! For assistance, call during regular hours or contact us anytime online.

Historic Bristol Day is Saturday, October 16 and we're having an outdoor book sale. You're invited to browse (and purchase) fiction and nonfiction books, children's titles, graphic novels, audiobooks and more! We look forward to seeing you.

Best wishes,
Dana Barber
Library Director

When There Were Witches: An Exploration of the Salem Witch Trials
Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30 PM

Beginning in early 1692, both men and women were jailed, prosecuted and executed for witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts. You’re invited to find out the details of why and how this happened when Archivist Mickey DiCamillo (The Historical Society of Moorestown, NJ) shares his presentation When There Were Witches: An Exploration of the Salem Witch Trials on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 6:30 pm via Zoom. Registration is required.

In January of 1692, a strange illness seized control of five young girls living in Salem Village, a contentious and divided town in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. When medical professionals couldn’t identify the illness, the town believed the girls had come "under an evil hand."  Events soon spiraled out of control with local divisions and a splintered colonial government feeding the frenzy.  Archivist Mickey DiCamillo unravels the events with archival documents from the period. Program participants will interact with transcripts from the 1692 interrogations of suspected witches, and will witness the difference between presumed innocent and presumed guilty. A Q&A session follows the 60-minute presentation.
