You're invited to join us for Clever Culinary Creations, a quarterly event for foodies and cooking enthusiasts of all ages!

This is a new program with a single ingredient given to participants to incorporate to a recipe of their choice. Brass Stair Rod Installation in the Grundy Museum

During our winter closure, historic housekeeping is undertaken to prepare for our late spring reopening and to add touches to our collections and exhibits. Among other significant additions this year are brass stair rods installed on newly carpeted staircases both in the Living Hall and leading to the second floor.

Stair rods were created in the late 18th century and were made from wood or brass. They kept carpet runners secure and in place. Their popularity grew in the Victorian Era and were often decorative.

Our brass stair rods are beautifully designed with a pineapple finial. Their elegance is indicative of the refined tastes of the Grundy family and the Victorian Era.
