Our Seed Library is now open! The collection includes vegetable, flower, and herb seeds and is available in both buildings. (NENPL patrons only, please).

Preventing the Financial Exploitation of Seniors
(Northport) Wednesday, June 11, 11:00 a.m.
The Office of the Suffolk County District Attorney in association with the Suffolk County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit will present information on how to protect yourself and your loved ones from financial exploitation. Learn how to recognize fraud, identity theft, and more, and understand how to respond. Registration is underway. NENA174
 



Friends of the Library:
30th Anniversary Celebration!

(Northport) Saturday, June 7, 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Join us in the Library Courtyard to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Friends of the Library! Enjoy lemonade, iced tea, cookies, and conversation with current Friends; learn about the group’s initiatives; and find out how you can become involved. In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will take place in the Community Room. No registration required.

Children's Summer Reading Club

June 16 – August 9
Join our summer reading challenge on Beanstack!
Keep track of the books you read to earn badges and prizes. Children birth–2 years will earn a prize after 30 books. Children 3 years and up who read or listen to six hours will earn tickets to the Reward Show!

 


 
Children 3 years and up may stop by the Children’s Room in either building any day during their birthday month to pick up a birthday bag craft and decoration kit. It’s a special way to celebrate your birthday with the Library! Be sure to tag us @nenpl or #nenplbirthdayswagbag and show off your completed crafts.

Teen Summer Reading Club

June 16 – August 9
Summer is the time to read, learn new skills, try some new activities, and have fun! “Color Our World” is this year’s Teen Summer Reading Club theme.

For each book review submitted, you will receive a raffle ticket to put towards your choice of one of our 12 raffle baskets. All teens will receive a tie-dye string back-pack and a Frisbee upon completion of their first book review. Items may be picked up at the Teen Centers
(while supplies last).



Home Alone

(Northport) Monday, June 9, 7:00–8:30 p.m.
Students in grades 4 and up

Home Alone is a program designed to provide students in grades 4 and up with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone. This fun, multimedia program is presented by staff from Youth Directions & Alternatives (YDA), your local community youth agency. Registration begins June 2. NENY729
 

Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Registration for the following Teen Volunteer Opportunities begins June 2.
Open to students entering grades 7–12.
Open to NENPL cardholders only.

All volunteer items are to be picked up from the Northport Teen Center by June 20 and returned by June 30 to earn community service credit. You may choose a maximum
of two volunteer opportunities in addition to "Libby Scavenger Hunt Volunteers."
