Seed Library
Stop by the Seed Library starting on April 1! The
collection includes vegetable, flower, and herb seeds and is available in both buildings. (NENPL patrons only, please). Ask a Reference Librarian for more information,

Medicine Collection
(Northport & East Northport) Wednesday, April 9, 3:30–6:30 p.m.
The Northport Police Department and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will collect unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications. Proper disposal of these items is essential for risk reduction and environmental protection. No questions asked and no personal information is required. Only medications in pill form will be accepted and must be placed in a plastic bag before arrival. Ask an Adult Reference Librarian for a listing of places to safely dispose of medical sharps.
This event is cosponsored with the Northport-East Northport
Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force.

Mom's Group
(East Northport) Wednesdays, April 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21 28, 10:00 a.m.
Mothers with children birth–3 years; siblings welcome

This is a weekly discussion for moms and their children. Led by a trained facilitator, this program will introduce various topics and activities that celebrate and explore motherhood while your children play with toys beside you. (90 min.)
Due to the unique nature of this program, we will not be able to accommodate drop-ins.

Registration for the following Teen Volunteer Opportunities begins April 1.
Open to students in grades 7–12.
Open to NENPL cardholders only.

All volunteer items are to be picked up from the Northport Teen Center by April 21 and returned by April 30 to earn community service credit. You may choose a maximum
of two volunteer opportunities in addition to Database Review Volunteers.

Long Island Reads
April 6, 2025
In April, libraries across Long Island celebrate the 2025 Long Island Reads selection. On Fire Island by Jane L. Rosen is an intimate story about love and death. Julia Morse passes away unexpectedly but desires one last summer in the community where her heart beats loudly and her fondest memories of life were made. More importantly, Julia wants to be assured that her grief-stricken husband is engaging with those around him and immersed in his new journey without her.
Author Jane L. Rosen will appear at the Long Island Reads Selection Award event on Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library. The event will also be live-streamed.
