San Leandro Public Library Mobile App is Working Again! We are so excited to announce that our San Leandro Public Library mobile app is working again! If you already have the mobile app on your device, you should be able to open and use it again right away. If you logged off while it was down, please login back in with your library card number and PIN (last 4 of your phone number). Don’t have the mobile app yet? Visit your App Store and search for San Leandro Public Library. The mobile app gives you access to our catalog, the library events calendar, your library checkouts and holds, and more!

Library Closed Monday, April 1 in honor of Cesar Chavez Day All San Leandro Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, April 1 in honor of Cesar Chavez day. Library book drops will remain accessible and normal library hours will resume on Tuesday, April 2.

Farmer’s Market Starts April 3 Starting Wednesday, April 3rd the Farmer’s Market will be back at the Main Library parking lot! The Farmer’s Market will happen every Wednesday from 3:00-8:00pm. Free parking is available after 3:00pm in the parking structure off of East 14th street.

Women’s History Month Tiny Art Show March 1-March 31, Main Library View our Women’s History Month Tiny Art Show! We’ll be showing off our patron submitted art pieces inspired by women artists to highlight and celebrate women creatives! Come get inspired, learn about women’s history and enjoy the talent in our community. Artwork will be on display during the month of March at the Main Library in the display area across from the Information Desk.

Women Leaders in San Leandro History: A Portrait Exhibit March is Women's History Month, and we are celebrating with Women Leaders in San Leandro History: A Portrait Exhibit. Join us for an Opening Reception and Tea on Saturday, March 9, 2:00pm-4:00pm. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month. Free - No registration. |

Bookmark Design Contest Thru March 11, 2024 Design a bookmark in honor of Art is Education Month. Visit the Library to pick up a submission form to participate or download the form from the library's website. Submit your design to one of the San Leandro Public Libraries by March. 11th to be entered for a chance to win!

Art is Education Month Reception Tuesday, March 5, 6:30pm-7:30pm SLUSD art specialists will host a reception to showcase student art on March 5 at 6:30pm.

STEAM Club: Art Shop Thursday, March 14, 4:00pm-4:45pm Listen to a book, then do a hands-on activity! This month, you'll "purchase" art supplies with your budget of pretend money, then make your own masterpiece. For kids ages 5 and older.

Bookmark Design Contest Workshop Tuesday, March 5, 6:00pm-7:00pm Join us at this open workshop where you can design a bookmark to enter into our friendly design contest in honor of Art is Education Month

Thursday March 21, 4:00pm-5:30pm Join us as we celebrate Art is Education Month through hands-on art with artists from the Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA). Registration is required.

Community Read 2024: West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge We invite you to join the library for our annual community read! This year we will be reading West with Giraffes, a historical fiction novel, inspired by a true story, that follows a young man and his adventure driving two giraffes cross-country in 1938 United States. The library will be giving out free copies of the book and hosting programs inspired by the book. Free book giveaway (with book discussion sign up) starts March 7 at our kickoff event with the East Bay Vivarium!

Kickoff Event – The East Bay Vivarium visits the Library Thursday, March 7, 6:30pm Main Library Meet and learn about reptiles from the East Bay Vivarium! Free books will be available at this event. This event is for adults 18+.

Animal Trivia Night Thursday, April 25, 6:30pm Main Library Test your knowledge of animal facts and compete to earn a prize! Come with a team or join one at the event. This event is for adults 18+.

Meet the Author! Discussion with Lynda Rutledge Thursday, June 13, 6:30pm Main Library Lynda will discuss her writing process, answer questions and will be available to sign books.

Summer Volunteer Applications open March 14th! Develop job skills, give back to the community, and have fun! Teen volunteers must be entering grades 9-12 and able to commit to 4 weeks of volunteering. More information can be found on our webpage.

Sensory-Friendly Teen Lounge Monday, March 11, 3:30pm-5:00pm Teen Lounge will be open specifically for teens with sensory needs on March 11th! We 'll have board games, a craft activity, snacks, and a Nintendo Switch, along with our sensory toys and noise-canceling headphones. Open to teens in grades 6-12; parents and caregivers are welcome to stay with their teens.

How the Cannery Shaped San Leandro Saturday, March 2, 1:00pm - 3:00pm History Museum, 320 W. Estudillo Ave. Curious about the Cannery that was located in our very own city staring in the late 1800’s? Join us to learn "How the Cannery Shaped San Leandro." You will also be creating a sweet easy jam to take home. This program is for ages 10+.

Grand Amatuer Concert, March 1872 Pamphlet file: San Leandro- Arts and Culture: Amateur Concert Just over 150 years ago, just days before the city was officially incorporated, the fine folks of San Leandro were invited to an amatuer concert at Smith’s Hall, an event hall which stood from 1869 through 1961 at 486 Davis. This concert was a benefit for the Presbyterian Church, San Leandro’s third church, built in 1867. The Sunday school wing of that church, also known as the “Little Brown Church” has been preserved by the San Leandro Historical Society and is located behind the Casa Peralta. The San Leandro History Room is located on the 2nd Floor of the Main Library Hours are based on volunteer availability. Please call our info desk to verify hours as they may change. - Mondays 5:00pm-7:00pm
