Library Operations Update
Adjusted Library Hours for
Wednesday, November 8 
 
Please note: On Wednesday, November 8th, all San Leandro Public Library branches will be closed all day to conduct an all-staff safety training.  Storytimes at the Main Library will also be canceled for the day. Thank you for your understanding! 
 
 
 
Veteran’s Day Holiday Closure
 
All San Leandro Public Library Branches will be closed on Friday, November 10 in observance of the Veteran’s Day Holiday. The Main and Manor Branch libraries will be open on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday November 12 with regular library hours.
 
 

 
Thanksgiving Holiday Closure 
 
All San Leandro Public Library Branches will be closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 

 
Storytime Vacation Days 
 
There will be no Storytime on November 8 (staff training) or November 21-23 (Thanksgiving holiday)

We highly encourage you to update your library account to receive either email or text message notices to ensure you are staying up to date on the status of your account. Native American Heritage Month Documentary Screening 
Wednesday & Thursdays from 1:00-4:00pm in November      
The San Leandro History Museum invites you to join us for special screenings of historical and current information about the Muwekma Ohlone tribe and general histories of the California Native communities. The shows will be on repeat during open hours. No movies on Thursday, November 23.

Come celebrate Day of the Dead with artist Rachel Palacios.  Learn about some of the traditions behind the celebration and create masks and puppets.
   

50th Anniversary of the
End of the Viet Nam War 
Saturday, November 4, 1:00-4:00pm

The Veterans Resource Center will be commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the End of the Viet Nam War, a conflict that greatly affected American society and the lives of millions. It will be an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate, and demonstrate gratitude for the courageous men and women who have served our nation. 
 
 

Make a Card for World Kindness Day 
Monday, November 13 during open hours 
Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave 
 
On World Kindness Day, visit the Main Library to make a special card to brighten someone’s day, and get a free kindness activity pack while supplies last. 
 

Family Fun Night: Yo-Yo Show

Champion Ernest Kahn shares his personal story in yoyoing, a brief history of the yo-yo, and gives a world-class yo-yo performance! Doors open at 6:20pm.

My Voice, Our Stories:
Teen Storytelling Performance

Join us to hear true stories, told live by a group of teens who have spent the last two months working with storytelling teacher Alma Jurado. All ages welcome, refreshments provided.

Join local instructor, Christine Shurma, to learn how to make Chocolate Ganache and Italian Buttercream frosting.  The instructor will demonstrate the best way to frost a cupcake and then participants will get to practice on their own cupcakes, just in time for the Holidays.  Call 510-577-7971 to register.

New Library of Things item – Blood Pressure Kits 
 
The San Leandro Public Library has partnered with the American Heart Association and their Libraries with Heart program to offer Blood Pressure monitoring kits which include a blood pressure monitor, charging cord, and an educational packet with a tracking sheet. These kits are available for checkout at our Main and Manor branches, visit our library catalog to place a hold on a kit today!
