Happy Fall tutors and learners! Here are some updates in Project Literacy.
New Staff Member with Family Literacy
We will be welcoming a new Project Literacy staff member very, very soon. They will be running our Family Literacy services and programs, like the monthly children's books giveaway and they will help train/coach volunteer tutors on how to help learners be their child's first teacher.
New Books in Project Literacy
We have new reading and writing materials in the Project Literacy office. Tutors and learners are welcome to stop by the office and borrow materials. PLEASE NOTE: when you borrow materials from the Project Literacy office you MUST fill out the Project Literacy Item Check Out List indicating which items you are borrowing.
The Latest From Alex
It's another busy grant and report season in Project Literacy! I'm working on our grant resolutions that will need to be approved by San Leandro City Council (so they can officially accept and deposit our grant money for Project Literacy!) and I'm working on the Project Literacy end-of-year report that'll go to the California State Library. With all that said, I'm a running a little behind in Project Literacy, but if you need something from me please send me an email or give me a call at 510-577-3944.
On a side note, we have 7 learners on the waitlist to be matched with a tutor. If you are a tutor and would like to take on another learner, please let me know!
Lastly, I want to take a moment to thank all the tutors for all the amazing work they do in Project Literacy. Tutoring during a pandemic is a huge undertaking and I want to let you all know that I see the work and the energy you put into tutoring--it does not go unnoticed. Thank you thank you thank you, tutors!
