Greetings fantastic tutors and amazing learners!
It's been awhile since our last Project Literacy newsletter! My workload picked up since the last newsletter in August, and so—
being the only staff member in Project Literacy—
it was difficult to find time to sit down and reflect on the program...not to mention that my desk setup at home is not conducive to long periods of sitting and typing! I'm going to try to do a quarterly newsletter to keep everyone in the loop of Project Literacy news.
In mid-February the library started scheduling small groups of library staff to return to work at the library on a monthly rotation. This past week was my 1st week back working onsite and there is a lot of work ahead of me as the Project Literacy office needs lots of reorganizing and lots of materials need to be updated. I am also doing Project Literacy Curbside Pickup when I am scheduled to work at the library. The next opportunity to check out Project Literacy materials via Project Literacy Curbside Pickup will be April 7th, April 8th, and April 10th. Here's a picture of me unpacking Project Literacy's Family Literacy Services children's books, which qualified Project Literacy learners can pickup at curbside!

We are getting new learners on a regular basis and I pair the learners and tutors based on similar schedules. Sometimes this process happens very quickly, sometimes this process can take many months. For those of you not yet paired with a learner or a tutor, I appreciate your patience during this process. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
As always, you can email or call me at the Project Literacy office, 510-577-3944, if you need any tutoring support and/or have any questions. IMPORTANT: the Project Literacy office line does not accept text messages--it is an office/desk phone, not a cell phone.
Hope you all are staying healthy!
