Based on Weymouth's yellow designation the past few weeks for declining COVID-19 positivity rates and the increasing numbers of staff and patrons being vaccinated, we will be reopening the second floor to patrons on Monday, April 5th.
How will this change my visit to the library?
The main areas of the second floor will be open for browsing, reference services, and some study spaces.
We will maintain our current hours of operation: Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be increasing the building capacity from 25 to 50 visitors at a time. Visits may now be up to 1 hour.
The First Floor Browsing collection will move back up to the second floor, but new materials will remain downstairs. Staff will no longer be available to bring books down from the second floor.
What about technology services?
Public computer access will resume on the second floor, limited to 1 hour per person per day.
We will resume charging for printing and copying at the rates of $0.10/page for black and white, $0.25/page for color.
Can I reserve a room?
Two study rooms will be available for use by 1 person at a time for up to 1 hour per day. You must reserve a time slot 24 hours in advance. There will be no availability for walk-ins. The last reservation of the day ends 30 minutes prior to the library's closing.
We will continue to require visitors to wear a facemasks at all times inside Tufts Library. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the library. Social distancing is still in effect.
All visitors are required to sign the contact tracing log before entering the building and anyone who is not feeling well or who has come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 should remain at home.
