ESL Literacy: Basic First Aid

This session includes instructions on how to handle the most common emergencies; how to recognize them, how and when to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. This free event is offered by the Refugee Health Connection, a Rutgers University organization dedicated to helping immigrants navigate the U.S. healthcare system.

For children ages 3-5. Drop by the Children's Department to join in the fun! Drop-In play is a time for kids to use their imaginations and play with props supplied by the library. Adult supervision required. Props must not leave the Drop-In Play area. 

Teens: Craft a decal to iron on

Learn how to upload, cut, and iron on a vinyl decal using our Cricut machine. Come with a design or logo in mind.

Pencil cases and tote bags will be available, or bring your own tee shirt. (Cotton, linen, poly-blend)

Drop by Studio M anytime between 1:30 and 4:30 pm. Projects take about a half hour.

Poetry Slam

For children ages 6-12. Celebrate poetry month by reading poems out loud. Participants are invited to read a poem they have written, or else select one from a book. Reading will be followed by a poetry inspired craft. This event will run on a first come, first served basis. There will be tickets at the Youth Services Desk beginning 1/2 hour prior to the program's starting time.
 

USCIS Naturalization Information Session

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is offering an informational program on the requirements and process for naturalization. The guest speaker is Kelly Ayala, Community Relations Officer for the New Jersey area. The topics will include the requirements and naturalzation process, the naturalization test, and the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship.

English Conversation Group

This informal conversation group will help you improve your skills in using English language in everyday life. Learn to speak confidently with doctors, neighbors, friends, family, professionals, and members of your community. Led by Girl Scout Troop 81809 and skilled volunteers. Open to adult Monroe residents. Registration is not required.
