For Kids & Teens (ages 0-17)
Keep Kids Engaged This Summer! Reading, science, art, math, and critical thinking skills can slide for kids & teens during summer break. Looking for solutions? The Library District has the answer with our FREE Summer Challenge program, where kids of all ages can win great prizes while sharpening their school skills.
For Adults (ages 18+)
Summer Challenge isn't just for kids anymore. Parents, caregivers, and all adults are invited, too! Participate in Summer Challenge for a chance to win items from our bookstores, a pair of Illuminarium and Meow Wolf tickets, gift cards, or cool swag from NBA Summer League and Vegas Golden Knights!
How It Works:
Reading + Activities = Fun All Summer Long
Kids, teens & adults will each get age-customized activities (see below) and fun reading recommendations for every ability. Then track your reading & activities in our special log, complete all three levels, and you’re eligible to win! Track your progress online through Beanstack and you will be automatically entered to win. You can also track your progress on a paper log, available at any Library District branch, then drop it off at a library desk to be entered. Kids & teens (ages 0-17) can also enter our Super Reader Challenge for a chance to win an iPad!
Two Ways to Track Your Progress!
Go to Beanstack: Create an Account or Sign in
All ages can use Beanstack to track their progress and qualify to win prizes! Simply click on Beanstack, opens a new window to get started. It is also available as an app for either iOS, opens a new window or Android, opens a new window. Complete all three levels on Beanstack and you will be automatically entered for a chance to win.

You can also track your progress on our paper log, which is available at any of our libraries, OR you can print it at home:
Once the log is complete, turn it in to any library desk in your local branch to be entered for a chance to win.
How to Win Prizes:
Complete these Ocean Depth Zones to qualify for a chance to win cool prizes!
The Sunlight Zone:
- Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department AND an entry for a chance to win a family four-pack of tickets to the Illuminarium and a Vegas Golden Knights kids' t-shirt.
- Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Library District Foundation bookstores and entry for a chance to win a $25 gift card.
The Twilight Zone:
- Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department AND an entry for NBA Summer League gear, a gift card for a Panda Express Cub Meal or Raising Cane’s Kids Combo and the library’s Free To Be water bottle.
- Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Library District Foundation bookstores AND chance to win an RTC backpack and bike helmet, a $5 Pinkbox Doughnut gift card, and a $50 gift card.
The Midnight Zone:
- Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department and entry for a chance to win a prize worth $50 for each age group.
- Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Library District Foundation bookstores AND entry for a chance to win a pair of Meow Wolf tickets, NBA Summer League swag, and a $100 gift card.
