Discovery Zone Playgroup

A time for free play for children with a participating adult. Arrival and departure times are flexible. This is a drop-in early learning program, where there will be toys for developing and strengthening gross motor skills, as well as providing time for young children to learn socialization skills,  and for all participants to form friendships.


Bridge Club @ La Selva Beach

CreateAbility Hour

Join us for an hour of inclusive and creative programming for adults with developmental differences.

This program focuses on fun and creative activities and social opportunities for adults with developmental differences and their caregivers. We will meet on the last Friday of each month on the Felton Community Room.

Knitting @ Live Oak Library

An Encompass Outreach worker will be available on a drop-in basis, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, in the Life Literacies Center at the Downtown Library for anyone with questions regarding connecting to social services, county mental health, addiction recovery options, housing applications, the Homeward Bound bus ticket program, obtaining a PO Box, clearing camping tickets, obtaining a fee-free DMV CA Identification application and more.

Walk-ins welcome, everyone served on a first come, first served basis

Make and Explore @ Live Oak

Every week we will have a new project idea for you to build or explore. Projects will include Science, Arts & Crafts, Model building, and Exploration of the environment around us.

Please allow at least 30 minutes to complete a project.

Children under 7 yrs old will need an adult present to help them. Expect to get messy!

Community Crafters@ Boulder Creek

 Come join amazing teachers from the community to learn a new craft or art process, and have a space dedicated to work on projects with others every week. We plan to learn a new craft or art process once a month with the weeks in between being open "studio" time. Come be part of this new community at the Boulder Creek  library! Materials will be provided for craft being taught, or bring what you want to work on! 


Project Scout Tax Preparation Assistance

Location: Downtown

Project SCOUT offers Volunteer income tax assistance and tax counseling for local residents during tax season at sites throughout Santa Cruz County. Volunteers are trained by Internal Revenue Service and Franchise Tax Board personnel. For disabled individuals unable to get to the tax sites, they have trained volunteers who can do in-home tax preparation. Seniors get priority at all library sessions.

English Language Conversation Group with Volunteer Center Literacy Program

Understanding Mountain Lions in Northern California: Threats, Health and Conflict

Are you curious about pumas (mountain lions) in the Santa Cruz Mountains? Join us in the Felton Library Community Room for an educational presentation from Felidae about mountain lion biology and ecology, locally. Our community experts, Zara and Alys, will discuss their research around occupancy, persistence, and health in mountain lion populations. They will also discuss conflict mitigation techniques and why native felids are important to the ecosystem.

Community-led Learning Presenter Bio: Zara is a biologist and has studied wild cats globally since 2004. Alys is a wildlife ecologist who joined Felidae in 2021. She and Zara lead the research programs for Felidae and the Bay Area Puma Project.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Glasses Available - Visores para ver eclipses solares disponibles

Visit any of our branches to pick up a pair of solar eclipse viewers to be able to safely observe and enjoy the show on Monday, April 8, 2024!*

*Never look directly at the sun without solar eclipse viewing glasses or other appropriate solar viewing equipment. It is never safe to look at an eclipse without proper viewers.
