It is important that we have conversations with our children about the the recent discovery of the remains of 215 children at the Kamloops Indian Residential School. They are not too young to learn about residential schools. In fact, I think it is our responsibility as parents of non-Indigenous children to make sure our kids do know the truth about this part of Canada’s history, so that they can help dismantle the systemic racism and discrimination that Indigenous people face in this country today – so that they can be part of the solution.
