The first infected were the mine workers. That quickly spread. The mine became a ghost place and that was the only good thing: they abandoned everything because there was no way to bring in more employees. In the town, people thought that it was going to stay there, in the jungle, upriver. Only when they saw the horde of gnawed miners come down, still wearing their lamp helmets but with the flesh of their bodies falling off in pieces, and when a woman from the town said that one of them had attacked her and soon after she showed the first symptoms, the first deaths, only then did the townspeople understand what awaited them.
