Dr. Nick Cardella of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will talk about the process of forensic dental identifications and bite mark evidence. Learn how this valuable information is used to solve crimes. This program is intended for adults and mature teens.

Dr. Cardella graduated from Rutgers University, NJ., in 1970 with a Bachelors in Biology and received his Doctorate Degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1973. Furthering his credentials, Dr. Cardella completed his internship at the Sunland Training Center and Jackson Hospital in Miami, FL., and received a Fellowship from the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics and was a staff member at the Universal Medical Center in Oakland Park from 1980-1995 being responsible for teaching interns and residents the diagnosis and treatment protocols for patients with head trauma.  Dr. Cardella limited his established private practice to the treatment of TMJ, head, neck and facial pain through 1995.

Dr. Cardella graduated from the Broward County Police Academy in 1983 and volunteered with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office from 1980-1990 and upon moving to Georgia, he graduated from the Athens Regional Police Academy receiving his Georgia POST certification. Dr. Cardella is a POST certified Instructor and has taught many classes on dental identification and bite mark evidence. He has been a guest speaker for the Georgia International Association of Identification and the Georgia Coroners Annual meeting. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of North Georgia and the Alliance Academy of Innovation.

Dr. Cardella has a strong volunteer history with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (2007-2014), the Brookhaven Police Department (2014-2015) and the Sandy Springs Police Department (2015-2017). Dr. Cardella is a full-time Deputy Sheriff with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and has achieved the rank of Corporal.
