Booklist Review
In her first book, TikTok executive Oshman uses Jewish wisdom to answer age old questions: What is my purpose? How do I find my strengths? What if I fail? Why do I feel empty while on the surface everything is going well? Growing up in Israel with a forensic-investigator father and relatives who survived the Holocaust, Oshman was prepped early on with skills to overcome adversity. However, it wasn't until she further explored Jewish teachings as an adult that she found much-searched-for peace. Oshman uses personal examples from her life as a consultant, wife, and mother to relate how applying concepts like neshama (nurturing your soul), bittul (finding purpose in serving others), shvira (using heartbreak to grow), and tzimtzum (making space for others in your life) sparked positive change. Refreshingly honest, she doesn't project a veneer of perfection but rather shatters the illusion that perfection is something to strive for. The format of the book allows for self-reflection at one's own pace, making it very approachable for readers of any or no religious persuasion.
