General Note:
Children's Tech 2 Go kits contain 1 laptop, 1 laptop charging cord, 1 hotspot, 1 hotspot charging cord, and 1 bag. Loan periods are 3 weeks with no renewals. Replacement costs will be applied for any missing part and a lost/damaged fee will be billed if the item is not returned within 30 days of the item's due date. Laptops and hotspots will be disabled after due date.
Chromebook laptops are equipped with Zoom, and by using Chrome patrons can access GoogleDocs, GoogleSheets, GoogleSlideds, and GoogleForms.
Chromebook and hotspot are both CIPA compliant.
Cost for lost, missing, damaged kit - Laptop $240 ; Hotspot $57 ; Laptop bag $25 ; Charging Cord $10/cord ; Total Kit cost $300.00.
Tech2Go kits are first come, first served. Library staff are unable to place holds or set kits aside for patrons. Tech2Go items are in high demand and our policies are in place to allow access to all our patrons. Because of this, patrons are not allowed to return and re-checkout the same device on the day of the return. Patrons are able to ask Library staff if there are other devices available for checkout.
Summary:
A Wi-Fi hotspot is a device that allows you to connect your mobile enabled devices (e.g. laptop, smartphones, tablets, etc.) to the Internet. The hotspot is portable so you cannect up to 10 devices almost wherever you go (for example: home, on the bus, in the park, etc.).
