Jill Mansell is a British author of romantic comedy. Mansell grew up in the Cotswolds and attended Sir William Romney's School in Tetbury. After working at the Burden Neurological Institute in Bristol for many years, she became a full-time writer in 1992. Jill Mansell is among the bestselling and most well-known chick-lit authors. In 2009, The Telegraph listed Jill Mansell as one of the best-selling authors of the decade. Her novel, Rumour Has It, spent eight weeks in The Sunday Times hardback bestseller list in 2009 and the paperback ranked third in The Sunday Times bestseller list An Offer You Can't Refuse, was in The Sunday Times paperback charts for five weeks in 2008.

Shay Mason was Didi Liang's first love, but he left Elliscombe shortly after high-school graduation and never looked back. Until now, that is. His charming jailbird father is dying, and Red Mason's last wish is for Shay to fix up their house so he can spend his final days there. The house is unlivable, due to years of neglect and a few creative squatters, so Shay stays at The Wickham, Didi's family hotel. Didi doesn't mind running into him; Shay is ancient history, and now she's engaged to the demonstrative Aaron. Meanwhile, her best friend Layla finds love a little too quickly online while her widowed mother takes in Red as a temporary boarder. Mansell (Fast Friends, 2019) presents another frothy, cozy work of women's fiction set in a small Cotswolds village where everyone knows everyone else's business, and they're all expecting Didi and Shay to get back together. She nicely balances their attraction with their involvement in secondary storylines, making all of the characters and their relationships richer, and making the happy ending even more satisfying.
